A Warning Sign!!!
We were all created in the image and likeness of God and put on earth
to be His representatives and to love and respect all of His creations.
As a lover of all living animals,
I am appalled and saddened by all the neglect and abuse that goes on in
this world. It grieves me to know that everyday innocent creatures of
God suffer untimely deaths, especially in the hands of our children.
We need to start focusing on our children, teaching them to respect all
living things. We live in a violent society and it is only getting
worse.
IT IS PEOPLE LIKE US THAT MAKE A DIFFERENCE!!!
As animal lovers, we must realize that, since they cannot speak for themselves,
we MUST speak for them.
Their health, well-being and LIVES depend on us.

EARL KENNETH SHRINER
--raped, stabbed and mutilated a 7-year old boy. He was known in his
neighborhood as the man who put firecrackers in the rectum of dogs
and strung up cats.
CARROLL EDWARD COLE
--executed for 5 of 35 murders of which he was accused. He said his
first act of violence as a child was to strangle a puppy.
PATRICK SHERRILL
--killed 14 co-workers at a post office, then shot himself. He had a
history of stealing local pets and allowing his own dog attack and
mutilate them.
BRENDA SPENCER
--open fired at a San Diego school, killed 2 children and injured 9
others. She repeatedly abused cats and dogs by setting their tails on
fire.
JEFFREY DAHMER
--impaled dogs heads, frogs and cats on sticks.
COLUMBINE TRAGEDY--ARTICLE that appeared in a local newspaper on April 22, 1999.

Animal abuse is often viewed as a minor problem, but we can see that
children who abuse animals often grow up to abuse, rape and murder
people.
CRUELTY of animals, by children or even adults, should be a
RED FLAG!
How people treat their pets is a good indication of how they will
and do treat people. Acts of animal abuse should not be ignored or
thought of as minor acts of cruelty. It has been found that children
who are victims of abuse from an adult, may take their anger and
frustrations out by abusing animals.
My children and pet cats started bonding with each other practically
from the time they were brought home from the hospital. They learned that physical
punishment was NOT the way to correct misbehavior of our cats. My point
is, that, if respect for life, any life, is learned at an early age these
children will probably grow into adulthood with a deep love and respect
for all helpless creatures.
This is easier said than done. Learning violence doesn't just come
from the home. It is everywhere you turn, TV, music, newspapers, books,
etc. We all have to pull together and involve ourselves to stop this
violent behavior. Just think, if someone had taken the time to involve
themselves in the lives of Albert DeSalvo, the Boston Strangler" or
Jeffrey Dahmer, maybe their victims would be alive today.

HEARTBREAKING STORIES OF ANIMAL ABUSE
I disabled the link to Hope's page. It's been gone for quite a while.
Hope's story of horror...she is the only survivor from a litter
of kittens that were allegedly tortured and killed by a
23 year old man from Milan, IL on February 23, 1999. Hope was blinded,
had severe internal injuries, tendons on her back legs had been cut,
her paws and ears were burned, part of her tail was cut off and she
also suffers from some hearing loss. Robert Slavish was arrested on
March 5, 1999. Robert Slavish was given a verdict of not
guilty on October 8, 1999 by Judge Michael Brinn.
Little Dunkin Died from the injuries he suffered at the hands
of two teenaged boys who poured gasoline over him and then set him on fire!
